Happy Friday, guys!
Thank you all SO much for your kind words about my new business and my website redesign. I have worked so hard on things and your positive thoughts have meant so much to me. Now that we are into the new year, I wanted to share my plans for this blog in 2017.
The whole reason I started this blog in the first place was to help people see that eating well and living a happy, healthy life does not have to be complicated. So my goal for 2017 is to be more focused on that. I published a survey recently about the type of content you want to see here, and I sincerely appreciate your feedback (even the constructive criticism). It was the exact thing I needed to send me in the right direction with my blog after the New Year. I really want to make my content more about you and less about me, so I have centered my editorial calendar around your feedback. Here’s what you can expect:
More Nutrition-Related Content
There was an overwhelming response from the survey that you want to see more nutrition-related posts. Hm, who would have thought you might want that from a registered dietitian? Be on the lookout for a transition to posting centered more around these areas- simple recipes, what’s going on with nutrition in the news, updated research, my daily eats, and dietitian stuff. My goal is to be informative while still keeping posts light, short and easy to read.
I knew coming into the New Year that consistency needed to be one of my priorities with the blog. Your feedback from the survey confirmed that. My goal is to consistently post twice per week, probably on Monday and Friday, and then have a third “bonus” post on Wednesday if I have time.
Continuation of Friday Fives
I was happy to read that people liked a good mixture of life /friends/family/personal posts; Lily was happy about that too, because she didn’t want to get the boot after this rebranding I will try to keep incorporating tidbits about life into my posts. I’m thinking they will best fit into Friday Fives for the time being.
Remember that time last year when I said I was going to start a YouTube channel but then I didn’t? Good times.
The idea of posting a video of myself talking ended up feeling too intimidating last year…. but 2017 is all about facing my fears! I get A LOT of email questions asking for simple nutrition advice and I always picture myself actually speaking to someone about their question. I LOVE writing, but I feel like I completely lose my voice when I answer someone’s nutrition question in writing. I’m not a fan of watching lengthy vlogs so I would like to keep mine short without a lot of fluff.
I would like to get everything settled with my website before I start that project, but it’s in the works.
