I’m on the listserv for the Charlotte chapter of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association. Last week I got an email that they were still in need for volunteers to help with their annual fundraiser for their scholarship program and I knew I wanted to help.
Each year the VT alumni association here mans several Ben & Jerry’s trucks at different holes during the Wells Fargo Championship. They recruit VT alumn to work shifts throughout the week and a portion of the proceeds helps a Charlotte senior go to Virginia Tech. They really needed people to help with the weekend afternoon shifts so I signed up for Sunday.
I had a lot of fun! The alumni association supplies the shirts for you (we had to wear white polos and khaki pants) and we also got a meal voucher. You can also watch the tournament for free if you volunteer. We were a little concerned about making our way to Quail Hollow golf course but shuttles run all day from South Park to the course, and they were really easy to find.
No one is supposed to take photos on the course but I did manage to take a few undercover shots:
