Part of the reason I was behind in updating this past week is because K and I went out of town the weekend to attend a surprise birthday party for his mom.
We stayed in Chincoteague, VA which is about 1.5 hours from the Chesapeake Bay Bridge.
We had a really great time and it was good to see family. Chincoteague is absolutely beautiful and I would love to take a beach vacation there sometime!
Our trip started off Friday evening. Since there is no such thing as a vacation day in my internship, we left after I was finished at the hospital. This meant that we did not get Chincoteague until 2:30am. I cannot express to you how torturous that car ride was.
Saturday morning we surprised K’s mom (she didn’t know we were coming) and ate breakfast at the Chincoteague Diner & Restaurant. I really didn’t like this restaurant too much. They didn’t have very many healthy options, their food wasn’t good and there were flies in the restaurant. Maybe their lunch or dinner is better?
We spent all of Saturday on the beach. I have been going non-stop for the past 8 weeks and it was so nice to just be able to lay out in the sun. It was amazingggggg. A bird even crapped on my head and I didn’t even really care that much :)
We ate dinner at a restaurant called The Village. I didn’t take any pictures but the food there was excellent. That evening we went to a local carnival and got ice cream.
By the way, the Island Creamery has the best ice cream I’ve ever had in my entire life.
Sunday, we ate breakfast at a restaurant called Bill’s. I was so full of fried seafood and candy/cake/ice cream at that point that I ended up just getting a fruit parfait. I really wanted to get a mimosa but figured that wouldn’t be a wise decision considering we had a day of traveling ahead of us. I highly recommend this spot for breakfast!
So that was our weekend! We stayed at the Best Western on Chincoteague and I probably would not recommend this hotel. It had good reviews on trip advisor but the room was so humid and sticky. We took showers Saturday morning and our towels never dried because the room was so damp. K’s family stayed at the Hampton Inn and their room seemed very nice.
