These past few weeks have been a little crazy. My little BeamBeams was sick last week! He had been sick throwing up for almost a month, but there was a period of time where he seemed completely better. Then he started to get sick again and it progressively got worse to the point of him pretty much dry heaving and throwing up non-stop last weekend.
I actually called on Friday and tried to get an appointment but the vet didn’t have anything available until Saturday. I wish I had pushed harder to bring him anyway because once we finally brought him in, they sent us to the emergency vet.
They originally thought he had some sort of obstruction or maybe kidney or liver issues and was going to need to stay there for at least 2 days… but after just 1 night they had eliminated all serious issues and he was eating and drinking pretty well, so they let him come home. He is on 5 meds right now and generally seems to be a lot better.
Now he is rocking a new hair cut from where his IVs were:
I feel bad that things progressed to the point that they did, but it’s always kind of hard to tell if Beamer isn’t feeling well. It’s not unusual for him to throw up (gross, I know, but our vet said it was normal for small dogs that don’t eat a lot). He pretty much sleeps all the time and doesn’t seem to eat or drink much when we are home.
We are thankful that he’s feeling better!
Now, on to my internship…
I just finished WEEK 4 of my food service rotation which means that I only have 3 weeks left at my current facility. This week was monumental for me, mentally, because I am officially halfway finished my with my internship!! I have completed 13 weeks and I have 12 weeks left.
This rotation has been challenging for me because I’m completing it where I normally work. It has been hard for me to complete what I need to do for my internship because it is difficult to separate those tasks from my regular job responsibilities. I am not getting paid for my time at this rotation and I’m technically an ‘intern’, so I need to focus on my internship stuff. But when something urgent comes up it’s not like I can just say, “Oh sorry, can’t help, I’m an intern!” So yeah. It has been really stressful. I’m just trying to focus on the next 3 weeks so I can leave on a high note and work on finishing this internship up!
On a bitter note, I’m missing out on *another* family beach vacation right now. My family is at the beach and I was originally supposed to go down for the weekend. I backed out at the last minute because I have so much work to do and didn’t feel like making the drive just for a night or two. Lame. I hope K and I can take an amazing vacation once I am done with all of this!
