We’re less than 2 weeks away from Easter and that means that the Easter Bunny is probably hard at work gathering ideas for baskets. And while I love candy just as much as anyone else (please don’t ask my husband about my PEZ obsession), there are lots of other stuffers that can fill an Easter basket besides sweet treats.
I’ve collected a few ideas at different price points for boys and girls of different ages.
Jewelry
A store like Claire’s would be a good place to shop for this if you’re looking to keep costs low. I’m thinking along the lines of fun earrings, cool bracelets, necklaces or even a fashion watch. Cheaper is obviously better if you’re worried about something getting lost. This category is not just for the ladies… I see lots of guys out in the schools wearing watches, ID bracelets, dog tags and leather bracelets. Lots of these ideas will fit nicely inside an Easter egg.
Electronics & Accessories
There are plenty of electronic devices out there that will fit in an Easter basket, and I’m sure your loved one has let it be known if he or she has a cool new gadget in mind. If that is out of the budget then another route could be to purchase accessories instead, like a new phone/mp3 cover, earphones, carrying case, etc. I just bought a new phone case online for $7.
Books
Okay, so maybe not *every* kid out there would be happy to get a book, but I’m sure those big readers would love to receive something new from the Easter bunny. Writing this post is actually making me think back to how much I loved to read when I was younger. Some of my favorite series were the Ramona books, Babysitter’s Club, and Fear Street. I still have a few books that I received as gifts around the holidays, like Anne of Green Gables.
Coloring / Art / Office Supplies
I had to throw this in here because I have always had a slight addiction to colored pens and cool notebooks. Would it be embarrassing for me to admit that at the age of 28, I would still be excited if someone gave me a pack of glitter pens? Some ideas in this category include crayons, markers, paint, paper pads, stickers, fun folders and coloring books.
Toys
This is obviously going to be very age-dependent, but the list of toys that can fit into an Easter basket is endless… bubbles, sidewalk chalk, puzzles, Legos, board games, Barbies, etc. I was obsessed with American Girl when I was younger and would have been ecstatic to receive any sort of accessory for my Samantha doll. Bonus points for any Easter Bunnies out there that can find toys that encourage kids to play outside, such as balls, hula hoops, or any type of sporting equipment.
Tickets to an Experience
This could be something simple like passes to the movies, zoo, or aquarium, or something bigger like a sporting event, concert, or amusement park. Hint: wrap them in a box to take up more space in the basket
Well, I hope this list has provided some fresh ideas for Easter Basket stuffers. If Easter really will not be the same without some candy in the basket then try sprinkling smaller, pre-packaged pieces in the basket or just filling up a few eggs with candy. I doubt it will really be missed with all of the other cool stuff in there
