Hey there. It’s almost the weekend! (!!!!!)
I took today off of work because I had an appointment this afternoon, but I decided to get up early anyway to get a head start to the day. It was kind of fun waking up at the same time as K. I usually leave for work while he’s still asleep and have to tip toe around the bedroom and get dressed in the dark. This morning our whole “family” was able to eat breakfast together
I decided to go for a run after K left for work and was able to get out of the door before 9am. I ended up staying on the greenway the whole time because most of the trails near my house are very shaded and it was already starting to get hot.
I somehow managed to eat breakfast, work out, and get dinner in the crock pot all before 10am. I felt a little bit like a domestic rockstar.
Dinner ended up being random things in our fridge… chicken drumsticks with an asian marinade, salad and squash from my coworker’s garden.
After my appointment, I stopped by my favorite running store to check out their electrolyte replacement supplements. It has been in the 90s here all week and my body has been telling me recently that I need to do better at staying hydrated and fueling. I’m mostly concerned about my bike rides, as those are longer and I push myself a lot harder. I wasn’t quite sure what will work for me so I picked up a few different things. I shall report back with how things go
Speaking of working out, I like to sometimes set exercise goals to keep myself motivated. I’ve set yearly goals in the past –and met them each time- but the problem with that has been that my exercising changes throughout the seasons. So last month I decided to set a *summer* goal instead…
My goal this summer is to exercise for 325 miles
I’m counting June, July and August as “summer” and I’m hoping/planning to bike, run and/or walk 25 miles each week. I tried to set a goal that would encourage me to stay on a regular exercise schedule, and push me while still being attainable. At the minimum each week, I bike once for at least10 miles and go on two 4-mile runs/walks. That put me at 18 miles…. so now I will have to fit in an additional 7ish miles every week. I’m hoping to get a new saddle for my bike sometime soon so hopefully that will help with the biking mileage!
Here’s how I’m doing so far since the beginning of June:
Walking/Running: 26.54 miles
Biking: 40.7 miles
Total: 67.24 miles
I’ll post some updates throughout the summer to let you know how I’m doing!
You may also remember that I mentioned registering for a 5k that I was supposed to run the same weekend as my high school reunion. The reunion ended up getting cancelled so I decided not to travel out of town just for the race. I’ve been looking into some local races and hope to get registered soon. K and I have even talked about running one together… we’ll see about that
Hope you have a great Friday!
