Hope you’re having a great Sunday so far. We have been laying low this weekend.
We had originally planned to go to Uptown on Saturday, but that idea got scrapped when K ended up having to work. I met him for a lunch date when he got off instead because we had to run an errand together that afternoon.
We ate at restaurant called Jake’s Good Eats, which was in the general vicinity of where we needed to go afterwards. The inside of the restaurant kind of had an old-timey country store feel.
I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich with a side of pasta salad. I thought the food was just so-so. They didn’t have a lot of options for sides and their pasta salad had a lot of dressing. But I guess it’s always nice to try something new.
Later that afternoon, we went to Marshall’s and Trader Joe’s and made a pit stop at Baskin-Robbins on the way home. If being obsessed with their chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream is wrong, then I don’t want to be right.
I slept in this morning until an embarrassingly late time, and then we went by the bike store to pick up a few things. We stopped for lunch at the Twilight Lounge, which is a Caribbean restaurant that was recommended to me by someone at work.
The owners are Trinidadian and the food was a-w-e-s-o-m-e. We told the waiter we had never been there before and he brought us some bread on the house. The sauce that came with it was very tasty and had a nice kick to it.
I ordered the stew chicken rice dish.
I had never had dahl before (it’s a blend of lentils), so I decided to get that as one of my sides along with the vegetables. I loved all of it!
K got the jerk chicken roti dish and really liked his as well.
I’m very much looking forward to eating leftovers for lunch tomorrow. We will definitely be back!
So yeah, basically all we did this weekend was go out to eat
I’ve been busy in the kitchen for the past hour or two working on some food prep for the week. I’m hoping I’ll be able to get in a nice bike ride this evening if the weather permits. I was not planning on watching the VMAs tonight (I think I’m getting too old for that?) but now that people are falling off of the stage and getting bit by snakes, I’m afraid I’ll miss something eventful.
Have a great day!
