Hey guys! Happy Hump Day!
Earlier this week, I made a very much anticipated trip to South Park Mall to check out the new Athleta store. I’ve been patiently awaiting its grand opening after hearing so many great things about their clothing, and couldn’t wait to check it out for myself.
When it comes to pricier workout clothes, I’m always interested in bottoms the most. I can get by with my Costco shirts and Nike running tanks purchased on sale, but I am willing to pay more for pants and shorts that stay in place. There is nothing more annoying than constantly adjusting your bottoms while working out (or even worse, chafing!).
Most of my pricier workout apparel has been purchased with gift cards I received for my birthday or Christmas. These pieces are not something I just run out and buy whenever I feel like it… which is why I was borderline devastated when I discovered this:
Those were my Lululemon wunder under crops, aka the best yoga pants ever. I’ve tried to replace them but haven’t found anything I loved as much. I even tried out some Zella crops from the recent Nordstrom sale, which everyone raves about, and didn’t think they were the same. So anyway, I was especially interested in crops when I went to Athleta.
The store was completely packed so I didn’t get to try on a ton of stuff, but here are some things I liked from my visit:
I tried on several crops and my favorite were the Chaturanga Capri (pink and black). I didn’t buy them because they didn’t have my size, although I learned that you can get free 3-day shipping with no minimum purchase if you order them from the store instead of online. I opted not to do that because I try to order things online so that I can use Ebates.
I ended up trying on several shirts because I wore a dress to the mall and wanted to see how the crops would look with a top. I’m kind of obsessed with the Hidden Agenda black tank. Unlike a lot of shirts with built-in bras, this one felt like it actually had some support (although it seemed more appropriate for yoga or other low-impact activities). I absolutely loved the odyssey pullover as well. The fabric was so comfortable and it was flattering. I didn’t purchase either but I will definitely keep my eye on them in case they go one sale.
I tried on several pair of running shorts and didn’t find anything that felt good to me. I was just trying them on out of curiosity, but I would probably do some better research about their shorts before actually seriously looking for a pair.
Overall, I really liked a lot of their clothes and the vibe of the store. The sales associates were very nice and helpful. I will definitely be back!
P.S. I also saw that Lush has opened in South Park. K’s cousin got me hooked on their products. So in other words, I really just need to stay away from that mall.
