Hey guys! Hope you’re having a great Friday.
Earlier this month, I participated in a foodie penpal exchange and today I can finally share what I received from my penpal.
I really enjoy reading other RD’s blogs, one of which is The Lean Green Bean. Lindsay shares awesome recipes on her blog. I have read a lot of her posts about her Foodie Penpal Exchange and decided to sign up for it this month. You’re paired with a ‘penpal’ and you are supposed to send each other a $15 package with “fun foodie things, local items or even homemade treats”.
My original penpal did not respond to my emails (I hope nothing serious happened with her!) and Lindsay was very helpful getting me re-matched with Shaylee in MN. I received my package last week and here’s what was inside:
I was especially interested in the chocolate hazelnut butter spread.
A lot of spreads like this list sugar or high fructose corn syrup as the first ingredient (ingredients are listed in order from greatest to least), so I was happy to see hazelnuts and almonds listed first this spread. I can’t wait to drizzle this on a banana… or just squeeze it straight in my mouth
This is also an embarrassing confession but I’ve never had a Cliff bar before. They pack 20g of protein so these will be nice to have on hand when I’m short on time after a workout.
And my husband has been eyeing these guys.
*Maybe* if he’s nice, I’ll share.
Thank you again, Shaylee
I wish I had taken a picture of what I sent in my package to her but it was all items from the 7th Street Public Market: homemade jam, roasted peanuts and several packages of seasonings. All of it was local to the Charlotte area… I hope she enjoyed it!
I hope you have a great Labor Day Weekend!!
