I’m excited to report that I actually woke up at 4am yesterday to fit in a swim before work!! Can’t tell you how good it felt to get in a nice workout. I almost snapped a pic of myself in the mirror but me in a speedo early in the morning really wouldn’t have made the best photo. Trust.
My morning went a little something like this:
4:00am– Wake up. Lay in bed for 10 minutes asking myself if I’m really going to get up at this ungodly hour.
4:40– Leave for the Y. Chug coffee in the car.
5:40– Get to Y and see I’m not the only crazy person out there. Swim for ~40 minutes. Shower. Try not to let coworkers see me naked in the locker room. Get ready for work.
Despite the early wake-up time, I enjoyed my swim and hope to make this a habit a few days each week. I also had physical therapy that afternoon and got the go-ahead to ride my bike (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!). I’m still supposed to take it easy and stick close to home but I’m so excited. I didn’t want to overdo it since I already swam, so I’m thinking I might go on a ride this evening
During my PT session, I got a treatment done to me knee that I *think* was iontophoresis. They put medication on this pad and stuck it on my knee. It was attached to some electrode thing and then I had to leave the patch on for 2 hours afterwards. That thing hurt like a bitch. It felt like little needles in my knee. It’s supposed to reduce the inflammation…. whatever works.
Yesterday was also bday celebrations part 2 over here for K’s bday, and we went out for pizza at Hawthorne’s. We decided to order something completely different this time and got garlic knots and their Crew pizza.
Then we came home and had some bday cake! So let me tell you a story about this cake…
K specifically asked for 3 things for his bday: Dinner at Cantina 1511, tailgating food to watch the Panther’s game and a strawberry ice cream cake from Baskin Robbins. He is a simple guy who hardly asks for anything, so I wanted to get him every thing he wanted for his bday.
To make a long story short, Baskin Robbins has the worst customer service ever. I wasn’t able to order his cake (a week in advance… apparently half of the cake makers in Charlotte were on vacation that week) so I had to resort to driving around to different stores looking for a little strawberry ice cream cake pre-made in their cake freezer. After 4 stops, I finally found one… but it had pink decorations. I literally sat in traffic for 1 hour trying to get to that last store, so I decided at that point to take what I could get.
The employees at BR wouldn’t even write Happy Birthday on the cake because they said it was too small. Hm, okay. So I ended up buying some little candy decorations to write Happy Birthday on it myself.
And then I ate the letters I didn’t use. Woops.
So anyway, K loved his little pink bday cake. I was so full of pizza and cake, and then I started taking selfies on the couch.
And then I went to bed super early because it is hard to function in the evening when you wake up at 4am.
Have a good Tuesday!
