I have been fighting off some sort if bug for the past 2 days and I think it’s starting to get the best of me. I came home from work on Wednesday and immediately felt like I had been hit by a bus… sore throat, fever, aches, nausea, etc. I still felt bad yesterday so I stopped by occupational health at the hospital where I work to get checked out.
An awesome benefit that is offered to us is an employee “quick care” clinic where you can be seen for free and only pay a very small fee per each test that needs to be done. I didn’t even have to make an appointment and a PA examined me and ended up checking me for strep.
Even though the little quick test they do was negative, he said that he thinks I may have strep based off of the way the back of my throat looks and my symptoms. Strep is apparently going around right now and he said that sometimes the rapid tests incorrectly come back negative. He went ahead and wrote me a prescription for antibiotics and told me to take them if I’m not feeling better in a few days.
You know what is especially awful about this? Besides the fact that Christmas is 1 week away? I just had a tonsillectomy in March!!!! This isn’t supposed to happen anymoreeeeee.
Okay, rant over.
Thankfully, Lily has taken it as her job to follow me around 24/7 and nurse me back to health. She apparently thinks the more belly rubs she gets, the better I will feel. So far I think that is working out better for her than not me.
On to some other random things going on this week…
So tell me if this has ever happened to you. I was using my blow dryer, which may just be my most prized possession, and it started smoking and died on me. Mid-blow dry. Half of my hair was dry and half was wet.
I have crazy hair and it takes a lot to keep it tamed, so this was a little tragic. I immediately ordered a new blow dryer and it came a few days ago!
My old dryer was a Super Solano. I loved it but it only lasted 1.5 years (just in time for the warranty to run out) so I decided to try something new. This time I went with a Solia. It had good reviews online and there’s a 2-year warranty. I have only used it once but I will let you know how I end up liking it.
You may be shocked by this, but I popped into Sephora the other day to use up a birthday gift card. I browsed around the store for a while and ended up purchasing these 3 items:
I am obsessed with these almond skin oils from L’Occitane and I included them on my Top 20 Christmas Gifts list last week. They smell SO good and leave my skin much softer than when I just use lotion. The only down side is that they are kind of pricey but Sephora has that little gift set for $10.
I also restocked one of my favorite lip glosses, NARS turkish delight. This is the perfect nude pink and I loooooove it. NARS reformulated this gloss at some point a year or so ago, and I much prefer the new formula over the old.
Lastly, I picked up this Clinique liner in the color Intense Clove. I have a lot of black eyeliners and while I love them, I wanted something a little softer to wear to work. You may not be able to tell from the lighting in this picture but this one is a lighter brown and I thought the color was really pretty. It’s also something different compared to what I normally wear… nice to change it up every now and then.
And on a different note, I’m not sure exactly what happened but Norman did something to make the Skylanders mad. We found him like this and had to rescue him.
So what are you up to this weekend? I have a feeling all of my plans are going to be cancelled in favor of sleeping and trying to feel better.
If you celebrate Christmas, are you finished your Christmas shopping? I only have 1 gift left to purchase. Yayyyyyyy for being done.
