Hey Heyyyyyy! Happy Monday!
Who stayed up late watching the Golden Globes? I did. Peeling myself out of bed this morning was n.o.t.g.o.o.d.
I hope ya had a good weekend. I worked all day Saturday and didn’t home until later in the evening. I grabbed a quick dinner and watched the Panthers vs. Seahawks playoff game.
I’m not a huge football fan but I will definitely follow my local team. Luke Kuechly is my favorite player on the Panthers because he did some work with the dairy association’s Fuel Up to Play 60 program. One of my school nutrition friends now works for the dairy association and her son was included in the promotional campaign. She said he was really nice
Sunday was pretty uneventful. I worked for a bit, got some more undershirts for work and got PF Chang’s for dinner (what’s up Christmas gift card).
So last week, instead of making a New Year’s Resolution, I decided to set 1 goal for myself each Sunday of something I would focus on for that week. My goal this past week was to drink more water, as this was something I had not been the best with around the holidays.
I’m happy to report that I drank lots and lots of h2o last week. I carried a water bottle with me to work every day (I try to do this anyway but sometimes forget) and made it a point to drink water with meals. The best part about this is that I definitely noticed a decrease in mindless snacking when I’m well-hydrated. I considered the week to be a success.
This week, my goal is to walk at least 10,000 steps each day. I got a Fitbit for my birthday but have not put much effort into increasing my steps since then. I was supposed to be taking it easy after my cortisone injection and I didn’t want to overdo it. But now that I know my cortisone injection didn’t work, I feel like it’s okay to get back into at least walking.
Does anyone else have a Fitbit? Feel free to join in on this if you’d like
Other bloggers: I have been working the past week or two to tweek a few things on my blog. I don’t really have anyone helping me with it so I’m navigating these WordPress/plug-in/widget waters alone. I’d really like to put my recent posts at the bottom of my page (like I see on most blogs) to free up space on my sidebar for other content, but I cannot figure out how to do this or which plug-in I should use. I have tried about 10. The one I’m using now only looks like it’s formatted correctly if it’s on the sidebar. If you have any advice, please send it my way!
Hope you have a fantastic week!!!
P.S. I am getting my hair cut on Saturday and I’m thinking about going short. I’m kind of getting tired of always styling my longer hair, and if it’s short then I won’t have to worry about putting it up when I visit patients. Here’s an old driver’s license picture from 2008 of me with short hair. What do you think? Short or long?
I say go short, it’s fun to have a change and it grows back if you don’t like it.
Thanks for the input :)
Oooh. You and me both on the 10000 steps thing. For me, I always have to run some to make it past the 4 digit mark. :(
Go short if you’re sick of styling long, it’ll totally grow back. :)
I work in a hospital so I usually get ~6,000 step that way. Going on a 30 minute walk usually pushes me over the edge. I don’t think I’m going to make it today, though, because it’s pouring down rain here :(
I am so happy to hear that Kuechly is a nice guy! I love hearing when really good athletes are good people!
I love that you’re setting weekly goals, what a great idea! I’ve recently set myself a 30-day goal to incorporate cross training into my routine five days a week. That means I have to run + do something else most days, but I hope it will be a good habit that will serve me well when I start marathon training in a few months!
Cross training is an awesome goal. I’m going to turn 30 this year, and my orthopedic doctor told me that it is really, really important to start cross training. I had mainly just biked and ran and he told me I was just asking for an injury :)
I feel like water is always on my list of goals. I’m really hit or miss with it. I’ll go for a week of doing really well with my intake, then the next it’s like I’m lucky if I drank half a bottle. I think your hair looks cute short too! I feel like I’m constantly changing my length. If it gets too long, I’ll go for shorter instead of just a trim then a few weeks into it I want my longer hair back ha:)
I am the exact same way with my hair! I will wait until it gets really long and get so sick of it that I just want to cut it all off. I’m thinking right now that I might just get 2-3″ cut off first just so I don’t do anything I regret :)
One of the things I am trying to focus on this year is drinking more water and less diet soda. I really like flavor, so water can be a struggle for me at time (especially in the winter). I like the little weekly goal challenge. I think your hair looks good either way – I would have a hard time cutting my hair any shorter, but if it grows quickly, the change might be nice. :)
I love Diet Dr. Pepper so I understand what you mean. The struggle is real. I have started trying to substitute them with LaCroix sparkling water instead and they are a decent alternative.
