Hey guys! Happy Monday.
Hope you had a great weekend. Mine was so fun because my friend Allie came in town for her annual visit.
She came in Friday evening and we stayed up late that night enjoying some prosecco and catching up on life. I immediately noticed that she had gotten an Erin Condren planner so we obviously had to take a pic of our planners together.
On Saturday morning, we headed out to Morrow Mountain State Park to check out the hiking there. Uwharrie National Forest is also in that same general area, but I heard from some hiking friends that Morrow Mountain is better if you just want a short hike.
So the signs were kind of lacking at MMSP, but we really enjoyed the hike (and the view!) once we figured out where we were supposed to be going. We hiked on a shorter, easier trail because I wanted to be careful of my knee. We ended up going through an old rock quarry that went around the side of the mountain. It was different and kind of neat!
The weather was super hot but it felt so nice to be outside. We had perfect timing because it literally started down pouring the second we got home.
Later that evening, we headed to Uptown to enjoy an evening out together. We decided to make a night of it and get a hotel, which was perfect for getting ready and not having to worry about transportation after a few cocktails. We brought all of the essentials for a night out.
I kicked off the evening by breaking it down to a Britney Spears song, which has kind of been my thing for the last 10+ years. I think Allie half hates it and is half entertained by it.
Once that was out of the way, we headed to 5Church. We enjoyed some cocktails at the bar for a little while before our dinner reservation. I tried my first dirty martini… the bartender informed me it was a ‘dude drink’ but I loved it!
We ordered off of the Charlotte Restaurant Week menu for dinner. I tried the split pea soup as an appetizer and the salmon as my entrée. My dessert was similar to a gourmet Kit Kat bar, which I was A-ok with Everything was really good and I loved the atmosphere of the restaurant. I’d definitely like to go back sometime and try some other menu items.
It was great to see Allie and I was sad to send her off on Sunday morning. I’m so glad we got to spend a girl’s weekend together!
What did you guys do this weekend??
