Hey guys! Happy Monday! How was your weekend? Mine was pretty low key because I worked on Saturday and was on call on Sunday. Despite that, I did manage to get a few things accomplished:
Ikea Dresser
If you follow me on Instagram then you probably saw that I started putting together that Ikea dresser. Finalllly. I bought the Tarva 3-drawer dresser back in May but it has been sitting in a box intimidating me for the past 3 months. I thought this weekend was as good of time as ever to tackle the project.
I started on Saturday night but made the mistake of also drinking wine. Word to the wise when assembling Ikea furniture…. DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL. You’re going to need your motor skills to be at 100%. Trust me.
Lily has been so confused. She literally just stood in my office looking at me for hours while I worked on putting this thing together. Yesterday, I picked up where I left off and got the body put together. All I have to do is assemble the drawers. I stopped last night because I smashed my finger with a hammer and got mad. Good times.
Workouts
All of my planned workouts this weekend- a 45 minute swim and a leg session in the weight room- were a complete bust. I got the hours wrong at my gym not once, but twice, and then they were closed yesterday despite the hours listed on their website saying they were open. So basically I only got a 20-minute swim in and it was not that great.
But despite all of that, I decided to go on a bike ride last night and overall it went well. My knee hurt at first so and I decided I would stick to flat roads, take things slow, and turn around in 5 minutes if things persisted. But I felt fine after a few minutes and was able to ride for about 35 minutes. Not only did I feel good but the sun was setting and it was beautiful!
I probably wouldn’t have gone on that ride if the gym had been open, but that ride really made my evening and my leg feels good today. It reminded me of a convo I had once with my PT about how you don’t really have to make some strict workout schedule and beat yourself up if you don’t follow through with it. Just go with the flow.
Confessions
On a different note, I have to tell you something.
I spent the weekend with a boy.
He cuddled with me.
And slept in my bed.
He likes to lick my face.
Beamer! He’s staying with me while his dad is on vacation this week. Lily generally doesn’t like Beamer too much so I wondered how she would be having him in ‘her’ space. But so far she has been fine. We have all been playing, going on walks and stealing each others toys.
This Week
Food: I missed out on my weekly farmer’s market trip because I was at work on Saturday, so I’m going to try to stop by either the one today or the one on Wednesday to stock up on things. I have a really hard time buying produce from the grocery store these days… stuff from the FM tastes so much better!
Workouts: I haven’t complained about it much but my foot is still bothering me from where I tweaked it hiking 5 weeks ago. It’s starting to get in the way of my knee rehab so I’m going to get it checked out this week. Still plan on sticking with swimming, cycling and leg exercises in the meantime.
To-Do: My main priority this week is finishing the dresser. I think I could finish putting it together tonight as long as I don’t smash any more fingers. Then comes the fun part of painting it. I haven’t completely decided what I want to do but I’ve been collecting some Ikea Tarva Hacks on pinterest for some inspiration.
Don’t forget that there’s only 1 more day left for the Erin Condren Life Planner giveaway. I will announce the winner on Thursday.
What did you do this weekend?
Anything going on this week?
A bike during sunset sounds like an absolute dream! I am amazed by some of the ikea hacks, like the blue one with the shelves? Good luck finishing putting it together!
I know, I loved that one!!! I’ve actually been looking at a way to repurpose a pice of furniture into a wine cabinet so I read that whole blog…. but then there seemed to be a lot of power tools involved, haha! Probably not a good idea for me :)
IKEA furniture is so maddening. I probably would have cried and thrown the hammer :)
Lily and Beamer are so cute, I just want to snuggle them.
There were no tears but there may have been some cursing.
Sorry to hear about your finger. Hope you feel better! I also hope you figure out the desk and get it done. IKEA likes to make us struggle with the building process, been there done that. Beamer is beautiful! Lucky girl snuggling with him! ?
Yes, I used to think how great their prices were but now I’m seeing what they’re saving with no labor, haha! Beamer is pretty handsome but he knows it.
haha I drank wine while painting our living room…not a great idea either ;)
New rule: no drinking while working on home improvement projects :)
