Hey guys and happy Monday! Let’s get this week started with a weekend recap:
Saturday
I started out my weekend with my normal routine of hitting up the farmer’s market. It was a lot less crowded there, which makes me sad to say goodbye to summer produce (esp watermelon). I picked up some apples, pears, peaches, cucumbers, tomatoes and romaine lettuce.
After that, I hit up the gym for a leg sesh. I’m supposed to be taking it easy with my foot for the next week, so cycling, the elliptical and any weight machine that puts pressure on my foot are off the table. I spent about an hour working on the machines (both legs and arms) before calling it a day.
Hair
If you know me, I’m pretty fickle about my hair. I go back and forth between loving it long and wishing I was brave enough to cut it short. And if there was ever a fine line between tomboy and high-maintenance then I would be walking it… I love getting my hair colored and I frequently curl/style it but I only get it cut every 6-8 months. This leaves a challenge for my stylist when it comes to my highlights.
I had a hair appointment on Saturday and told my stylist I wanted a change but nothing drastic. I let her decide what to do with it and she ended up cleaning up the ends (holy smokes, they needed it) and adding a lot more natural-looking highlights. I LOVE the way it turned out, both with the cut and color. Basically my hairstylist is amazing.
Tupelo Honey
My hair place is right by Tupelo Honey Café, and I have been dying to eat there since they opened last year. This was my first time dining solo at a restaurant but I went for it because I wanted to try the place out. The restaurant originated in Asheville and they prepare “Southern” foods. So many of their menu items looked good that it was hard for me to decide what to order.
I ended up going with their meatloaf and sides of brussels sprouts and cheesy mashed cauliflower. It was delicious!
Coffee + Shopping
Here comes the part where I tell you I’m a horrible blogger because I didn’t take many pictures after this. I met one of my friends for coffee that afternoon. We chatted for a bit and then stopped by boutique to shop. It was nice to catch up with her.
Bark and Brew
After my shopping excursion, I headed to Cornelius to the Lucky Dog Bark and Brew for a friend’s dogs birthday party. I had never been there before but it is essentially a dog park with an open bar. Very interesting!
I liked the concept but there were so many dogs… dogs going potty…. dogs running around and being crazy. It felt kind of wrong to enjoy a beverage in the middle of that, haha.
I realized on Saturday that every single one of my friends in Charlotte is a dietitian. Not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing
Sunday
A day for rest and relaxation! I felt like I needed to spend extra time with Lily since she didn’t get to come to the bark and brew.
This Week
I’m interested to see how my foot does this week after my dry needling session. It’s better but not 100%, so I will probably be sticking to the weight room and pool for my workouts.
I also have 4 different home improvement projects going on right now and I’m hoping to wrap most of them up (so I can share them with you)! I’m working on painting my dresser, finishing up a nightstand, refinishing picture frames and painting shelves. Clearly I have ADD because I’ve started all of those and not finished one
On the blogging front, I am working on a pretty cumbersome project that I will share with you once I’ve completed it. I’m mainly not going into detail because I’m thinking it might take a while… but will be very excited when it gets done!
What’s going on with you this week?
Did you do anything fun this weekend?
Your hair looks amazing- love the subtle highlights! I have like 1 local RD friend so I’m pretty jealous- are you guys all going to Nashville together? Let me know your FNCE plans!
I found out last week that I won’t be going to FNCE due to a work conflict :( I was disappointed at first but it looks like I may be able to go to another conference later. We’ll see! I’m sad to miss out on seeing all of my RD friends there.
Love the hair… and that biscuit looks incredible. Haha. Clearly I focus on the food :) Excited to hear more about this blogging project :)
Um, yeah, that biscuit was amazing.
I love your hair! Your hightlights look super natural, which is great when you don’t want to get them redone all the time.
Thank you! Yep, I was trying to be as low maintenance as possible :)
Hope you post more about your DIY adventures, Sam! I have the Tupelo Honey cookbook..and am DYING to make it out to a restaurant.
You need to!! So good. I plan on sharing some projects once I finish some :)
