Hey guys! I hope everyone had a great NYE and New Year’s Day and that your 2016 has gotten off to a good start.
My New Year’s
I wasn’t really expecting to ring in the new year this way but I ended up having to have surgery to remove an abnormal ovarian cyst last week.
The good news: I was able to get the surgery scheduled right away and everything went well. I am home now and have just been trying to take it easy and get a lot of rest. I’m still waiting on the pathology report but my doctor said the cyst didn’t look like anything to be worried about. And technically, this all happened in 2015 so I still think 2016 will be a great year for me
The bad news: I’m not sure when I will be back to exercise but I know it will not be in the next few weeks. I’m still working on things like showering, getting in and out of my recliner and bending over. Needless to say, I’m not too worried about hitting the gym right now. And the thought of sitting on my bike does nottttt seem very appealing to me.
I can’t pick up Lily right now and she’s having a hard time accepting that.
Sparkling grape juice to ring in the new year, because alcohol + narcotics do not mix. (P.S. neither does anything “sparkling” the day after surgery. I should know this.)
Honest conversations with my sister about the aftermath of surgery. Look, do NOT judge me until you have any sort of abdominal or gyn-related procedure. Then we can talk:
I will just consider this whole experience to be the grand finale of what has probably been the crappiest year of my life. But on the bright side, I am actually very thankful for 2016 so far in that my recovery has gone really, really well and I already feel a lot better compared to before my surgery.
I’m excited to get back to normal and kick some @$$ in 2016
New Year’s Nutrition Boot Camp
In other news, today is the first official day of Nutrition Boot Camp. You guys, I am SO excited about NBC because I have wanted to do something like this since I started my blog. I have a great group of 60 people so far and I think it’s going to be an awesome 6 weeks.
My favorite part about this program is that there is going to be a strong emphasis about building healthy habits to create a balanced diet… no restriction, no deprivation, no “diets”. Today is technically the first day but it’s not too late to sign up!! See this post for details and sign-up information.
Some Things For You in the New Year
I’ve come across a couple of things online for the new year that I thought you guys, especially my blogger friends, might like to check out.
– The Passion Co’s Reflect 2016. It’s a workbook reflection on your life and passions in 2015 and where you want to go in 2016. This is a great tool to really evaluate where you are in life and how you can become happier. Completely free. Do it with some girlfriends!
– Designer Blogs has free blog planning templates if you sign up for their emails. It’s not just 1 or 2 sheets… it’s an entire zip file full of planning stuff. And I actually really enjoy their emails and will likely use their custom design services the next time I revamp my blog. If you like to plan things out on paper then I would highly recommend these! I will definitely be using them in 2016

How has your 2016 been so far?
Do you like to plan things out on paper?
Any big goals for 2016?
Can anyone relate to the text msg I sent my sister?! For real, you guys. I can’t be alone here.
Wow 2015 just did not give you a break. I am sending you all the positive vibes I have for a healthy and happy 2016.
Ugh, I know girl. I laughed when he told me I had to have the cystectomy. I am feeling really good about 2016, though. Thanks for your positive vibes!!!
Well that is not the way to ring in a new year! Wishing you a speedy recovery and good news on the pathology report.
I just signed up for the New Year’s boot camp! I love that you are focusing on adding positive changes and not diet/restriction. I’m terrible about drinking enough water so this first challenge is definitely needed.
Thanks, heather!!!
Oh my goodness! I’m so glad that you are ok. Let’s leave all of these medical things in 2015, mkay? For both of us, I hope that this is a year of GOOD health!
I hope you feel better very soon! It’s good news that they were able to take care of this so quickly so you didn’t have to worry about it any longer than necessary. As far as writing things down on paper – I love it! I just wrote a whole post on my (paper) planner talking about my love for it.
You poor thing!! Sorry to hear about the surgery, but glad it went well!! I’ve battled ovarian cycts for years now and have had surgery as well, so I understand the inconvenience and annoyance with them. And I’m totally signing up for those templates. Thanks for sharing!!
I’ve never had an issue with cysts before. This one was non-functional so it had to come out. Sorry you have to deal with them all the time!
Oh my gosh, I am so sorry that you had to have surgery but Im glad you are ok! Not a fun way to spend new years:( Hope you get some rest and feel better quickly!
Thanks, Lisa
Oh my goodness!!! I am so sorry to hear that you had to go in for surgery. After all you have been through… what a way to end the year. I definitely think that 2016 is going to be your year!!! Hopefully you are through with all the injuries and medical issues. Thinking of you! xo
