Hey there! Happy Monday
I spent the weekend delving into something I have been dreading for months: apartment shopping.
You may remember last year that I moved out to a small, rural town to be close to work. This has been good for me in so many ways but the move was always intended to be temporary. It’s hard to believe that it’s already almost been a year, but my lease is about to be up and I need to figure out my next step!
I kind of thought I had a game plan with my move and pictured myself living it up in downtown Charlotte. But then my car got stolen down there and it was a reminder that Charlotte is a big city and I am a single female. So I’m really trying to think things through and come up with a plan that I feel good about.
Rent vs. Buy- I still own my house in Virginia and no desire to collect real estate. So I will continue to rent down here.
City vs. Burbs- The typical Sam choice would be the ‘burbs because I am a fairly boring individual and that is the safe choice with my car being stolen. But something is really telling me that I am single, 30 and that maybe I should step out of my comfort zone. I just need to find an area where I feel safe and don’t have to worry too much about crime.
Solo vs. Roommates- This is a tough one. I was recently in a place where it was really important for me that I live on my own. I have really enjoyed it and honestly don’t love the idea of having a roommate. But then with the car stuff I have been scared being by myself. I think that scenario would have been so much easier to deal with had I been living with someone else. So now I am liking the idea of living with someone else. Is it bad to solicit roommates on my blog?! If you know of someone in CLT looking for a roommate then let me know
Kitchen- I know you can’t be picky with rentals but the kitchen is important to me! I love food and cooking, and can’t imagine living somewhere that doesn’t have room for that.
Can’t wait to find my new place!!!
What about you?
Rent vs. buy? City vs. burbs? Solo vs. Roommate? What feature is most important to you in a home??
