Hey friends! I’ve got some nutrition info for ya today but first I have to tell you about something that happened to me the other night.
So, as you guys know, I’m not the best runner. At all. I’m really self conscious about it actually… I’m blogging buddies with so many amazing athletes/runners so posting about my 15 minute miles can sometimes feel embarrassing.
I’m really in the thick of things with triathlon training and the runs are always a challenge. Part of it is mental and part of it is physical. I’m also sporting a cast on my arm and it is H.O.T. in North Carolina. The struggle is real.
The other night I was doing a brick workout of a 50-minute cycle and 35-minute run. I pushed it on my ride so I was feeling a bit spent for the run. I decided to run downtown because it was later in the evening and I just thought it would be nice to be outside. I ran by a bar and two guys started yelling at me from the outdoor patio. They told me that I sucked at running and I was so slow that I might as well be walking. They basically said the things that I have to keep from telling myself when I’m having a really bad run. I’d be lying if I told you it didn’t get to me. It made me feel discouraged.
I know people can be dumb sometimes, and that these guys were most likely intoxicated. But it still made me feel discouraged.
Thankfully my roommate made me feel a lot better (the F bomb might have been thrown around a few times that night in our apartment) and Thursday was a new day for workouts
