Yesterday I did my first open water swim. Ever. In a lake. And that is how I knew triathlon training was making me crazy… I was voluntarily swimming in a lake “for fun”. I am planning on recapping my experience next week but for today, I have a much more important situation that I need your help with!
So I hardly ever post things like this but I could really use your advice…
I moved into a new apartment in May. I recently got new neighbors upstairs and someone is SO loud in the room above my bedroom. Their footsteps sound like stomping to the point that I actually thought someone was doing aerobics or dropping a kettle ball on the floor above my ceiling. My roommate verified that our neighbor is in fact the loudest person on the planet. He said he can hear the person from his room on the other side of the apartment! This goes on until midnight or later and it has been making me miserable for the past 3+ weeks. I have to get up at 5:30am for work so I really need sleep. It’s gotten to the point where now I will be woken up at midnight or 1am and then cannot go back to sleep because I’m so annoyed.
Guys, I am SO sleep deprived. I have been crying myself to sleep most nights because this guy is so freaking loud. It goes on for over an hour at a time. I have thought about getting a hotel some nights just to get some sleep.
So last week as I was walking out of my apartment, I heard the neighbor above me close their door and start walking down the stairs. I knew it was my chance to say something. I talked to a girl who was really nice and said her fiancé is very heavy-footed and it sounds like he’s stomping when he walks. She said this right away like she knew it was an issue. I tried to be nice in explaining how he was keeping me up all night (still trying to figure out why someone is walking around so much in the middle of the night, but that’s another story). She apologized and said she would let him know.
Soooooo here I am at 3:30 in the morning because it happened again tonight. I just can’t deal with it anymore. I don’t know if I should go up there and knock on the door or leave a note or start taking sleep pills or what. I feel like if this is the way he walks then obviously he’s not going to change that, and I already said something to his fiancé once. I also can’t help but think that someone has to be a total douchecanoe to be aware that they stomp around like that and live in a 3rd floor apartment instead of the first floor. And um, I really hope he doesn’t read this blog.
I also thought about saying something to the apartment complex but then what good would that do?
If you can’t tell, I’m really aggravated. Because as of now I will be getting a whopping 1.5 hours of sleep and then have to get up and see patients all day.
What should I do?! I have lived 6+ different apartments throughout my life and have never dealt with a situation like this.
