I turned 31 on December 11th and my roommate gave me an awesome book called 365 Days of Wonder: A Quote for Every Day of the Year about Courage, Love, Friendship and Kindness. I flipped to my birthday page and couldn’t have asked for a better quote:
For a very long time, I have had a dream of building a career helping others find peace and happiness with their diets. I love showing others that eating healthful, nourishing meals does not have to be difficult or complicated. You don’t have to be a chef and it doesn’t have to be expensive. Making small changes can lead to big results, and helping someone find that place of balance is so, so rewarding.
I have had a dream of opening my own private practice since the day I became a registered dietitian. And today is the day that dream has officially become a reality!
Welcome to the website of my new private practice, G & G Nutrition Co. I have spent almost all of my free time over the past few months getting my ducks (or grapefruits?) in a row to get my business up and running. That has meant splitting my time between setting up all of my business stuff, creating a new website, and working on an application that will be the foundation for me to able to accept insurance- all while still working my full-time clinical nutrition job! It has taken a lot of work and I’m really proud of myself for getting to this point.
I still have several things left on my to-do list that I’m hoping to finish up over the holiday weekend. The two main things are learning how to use Woo Commerce (the plugin that sets up the store on my site) and creating a new header/logo. For Woo Commerce, I’m trying to decide between using PayPal or Stripe to accept payments. If you have any input then please contact me! Oh, and I also need to put more photos of grapefruits on my site. Obviously.
You’re currently on the blog page of my new website. I plan to continue blogging and this page should function the same way as my old website. I couldn’t imagine stepping forward with a nutrition business without taking a piece of Grapefruit & Granola with me. Thank you so much to all of you who completed my blog survey a few weeks ago. One of my goals for 2017 is to get my blog in order, provide better content and be more consistent with posting. Wish me luck
In closing, I just want to share how good it feels to publish this post! I’m so excited. I have thought a lot about my brand and what I want to represent as a dietitian, and ultimately I just want to help people achieve their health and wellness goals in a balanced and realistic way- without the feelings of restriction or deprivation. I have an office space here in Charlotte, NC but I will also be offering services virtually. I’d love to connect with you!
I hope you have a Happy New Year! Sending you wishes for love, good health and happiness in 2017!
xoxo,
Sam
