I hope you are having a fantastic Friday so far. It is an exciting weekend over here because my little sister is getting married! Molly and Dustin have been together for several years; they have moved across states together and built a house together. It is exciting to see them take this next step. I am also really looking forward to seeing all of my family!
My sister is into pin-up modeling and Dustin works in the racing industry, and I think their wedding will be a unique mesh of their styles and personal interests. I’m looking forward to everything!
Did anyone see VT beat Wake Forest in basketball this week? I went to VT and B went to Wake so I guess I have bragging right now That same evening, I was cleaning out my jewelry box and came across this bracelet I was given from my great uncle. He went to VT in the 1950s! The ring dance is an annual event at VT and I just thought it was cool to randomly come across that.
Half Marathon Training
This is the first week that I feel like my half marathon training is going fairly well. I did my long run on Monday (5 miles) and my pace was 13:57/mile. That was a tad bit slower than my 5 miler the week before but I could tell I was a little dehydrated. I rested on Tuesday and did 40 minutes of strength training on Wednesday. I have actually stuck with the Kayla Itsines workouts as my strength training because my legs have felt so much stronger since I started those. I did a 3.5 mile run on Thursday and I’m hoping to sneak in some sort of cross training in the hotel gym today before the wedding festivities begin.
I have started getting a blister on the side of my right big toe and it’s making me wonder if I need to get a new pair of shoes with a bigger toe box. What do you think? I am running in the same shoes I used for my triathlon training and I’ve been happy with them so far before this happened. I don’t know if this is just a normal thing that happens as you start running more?
Here’s what my schedule looks like next week:
- Sun- run 6 miles
- Mon- rest
- Tues- run 4 miles
- Wed- 40 minutes cross training
- Thurs- run 4 miles
- Fri- easy run
- Sat- rest
- Sun- 5k race
Sooooo I haven’t really registered for a 5k race here but it’s on the Hal Higdon race plan. I might just try to do a fast 5k and see how it goes.
I’m going to hope off of here but I have you have a great weekend. I will report back with wedding pictures on Monday!
What are you up to this weekend?
Where did you go to school and does your school have any fun traditions?
