Hey friends!
I am back from the most wonderful 2 weeks of wedding celebrations and vacation. I am waiting until we get our wedding photos back to do a full post about the wedding, so I will just share a few highlights with you as well as a recap of what’s been going on in Casa de G&G.
B and I got married the Saturday before last in a small, beautiful ceremony surrounded by our close friends and family. I don’t think we could have asked for a better day.

We tried to keep things super simple with our wedding. We got married in our favorite restaurant and had a cocktail party reception afterwards. One of our friends officiated the ceremony and while it was short and simple, it was also so special and meaningful. We tried to structure the day to feel chill and relaxed, and we wanted our reception to just feel like a giant party. It was the best day ever.
I sometimes think that weddings generally center around the bride, the dress, the flowers, etc. It was really important to us that B have full say in whatever plans we made and that the day be just as much about him, his family and his friends as it was about me. I think our wedding celebration ended up being just that. It was so perfect for us and a true reflection of our relationship.
After the wedding, we flew down to Cancun for a few days to relax and recharge for a mini-honeymoon. It was very relaxing and much-needed! We spent every day lounging at the pool, and I think we slept for 10 hours each night. It was great. We’re planning on taking a longer trip to Spain sometime this fall. If you have any Spain recs then send them my way!
We flew back to Charlotte on Friday because B was in another wedding this past weekend.
Our Girls on the Run team also celebrated the end of our season and we ran together in our 5k!
I think Girls on the Run is a great program that sends so many positive messages to young girls about self-esteem, friendships, and positive body image. Our girls also worked on a service project, which was a bake sale that ended up earning over $200 for a local animal shelter. They were so proud of themselves, and they are planning a trip next weekend to visit the shelter and deliver the money in person. I also heard a lot of talk about hoping to play with some puppies :)
I am happy I was able to be a coach and experience the program. I tried to soak in the 5k and then our celebration yesterday because I don’t think I will be able to coach again next season. I knew after a few weeks that committing to 2 afternoon practices each week was a bit too much for me to do at this point. I’m so glad I got to experience it, though!
It feels so good to be back home and settled back into regular life. I picked Lily up on Saturday and that’s when things really felt normal. Today is my first full day back in the office and I’m trying to make my way through emails and knock out some things on my to-do list. The podcast is coming back on May 15 as well, and I’m so excited about it!
I hope you all are having a fantastic week and I can’t wait to share more about the wedding when we have all of the photos back :)
Was all the talk about hoping to play with some puppies coming from you? :D
I’m so glad you both had the beautiful wedding day you wanted and got to relax fully on your mini moon! Spain is going to be amazing. I’ve only been to Barcelona and for a very short period of time but the hummus platters are just incredible haha!
Haha it actually was not! it was coming from them :) Although I fully supported it. Def looking forward to the hummus!
