Listed below are some frequently asked questions. PLEASE do not hesitate to contact me if you have additional questions.
Q: I’ve never seen a dietitian before. What should I expect?
Our first visit, an initial nutrition assessment, will be spent going over all of the information I need in order to make customized nutrition recommendations for you. We will talk about your past medical history, nutrition-related history, food preferences, current diet, medications, home life, stress, your schedule and most importantly – what your goals are with meeting with a registered dietitian. We will go through what a day in your life looks like and I will look over a 3-day food diary that you will complete prior to your first visit.Follow-up visits will be focused on reviewing specific nutrition topics customized to you. We will set nutrition goals at each appointment, and work through any obstacles that prevent you from meeting your goals.
Q: How do I make an appointment?
You can click here to schedule an appointment online or make an appointment by phone: (980) 349-7763.
Q: I’m interested in nutrition counseling but I still have a lot of questions. What should I do?
I encourage you to schedule a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation. The purpose of this phone call is to gain clarity on how I can help you meet your nutrition goals. Feel free to ask me any questions about my nutrition philosophy! It’s also a great opportunity to see if we are a good fit for each other. Q: Do you accept insurance? What is my coverage?
I am contracted as an in-network provider with the following BlueCross BlueShield plans: Blue Advantage, Blue Care, Blue Options, Blue Select and the NC State Health Plan. If you have one of these plans then you would schedule an appointment and I will file your visit with your insurance after your appointment. Please note that I am unfortunately not an in-network provider for Blue Local or Blue Value.
In terms of coverage, everyone’s plan is different. Many plans cover nutrition counseling at 100% as preventative healthcare. You can check with your insurance company using this form to determine what type of coverage your insurance plan has for nutrition counseling.
I also provide a medical receipt (called a superbill) upon request if you would like to file your visit with a different insurance plan.
Q: I don’t want to travel to your office. Do you offer virtual appointments?
I do provide virtual and telephone visits! I provide nutrition coaching via telephone, Skype, FaceTime or whatever method works best for you. Please note that these visits are typically not covered by insurance. I would encourage you to contact your insurance provider to see what’s covered.
Q: I would like to lose weight. Do you provide weight loss counseling?
A: Many clients come to me with the desire to lose weight. I believe our bodies are meant to be at a “healthy set point weight” – the weight where our body settles when we are living our healthiest life. This means that my primary focus during sessions will be about health-promoting behaviors in all areas that will help you feel your best: a nourishing diet, exercise, sleep and stress. When all of these areas align, our bodies settle at our healthy set point weight. Whether this means weight loss for you would depend on your own body and your current lifestyle habits.
My goal with G&G Nutrition Co. is to promote health and wellness from the inside out. I love to help clients stop the cycle of yo-yo dieting and weight loss followed by weight gain. Please feel free to schedule a free phone consultation to determine if we would be a good fit for each other in meeting your goals.
Q: Where is your office located?
1200 E. Morehead St. Suite 20, Charlotte, NC 28204. I also provide virtual and telephone consultations if this is more convenient.
